Frank Bottome – The Comforter Has Come

“The Comforter Has Come” is a well-known hymn written by Francis (Frank) Bottome, an English Methodist minister and hymn writer born in 1823 in Derbyshire, England.

Bottome emigrated to America in 1850, serving as a Methodist Episcopal minister, and he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree in 1872.

The hymn “The Comforter Has Come” is a joyful proclamation of the coming of the Holy Spirit, often sung in Christian worship to express the arrival of God’s promised helper and guide. It celebrates the comforting presence of the Holy Ghost and the salvation brought through Jesus Christ.
